Skinheads versus boneheads, often they are confused for eachother, in one way or the other, but they are very different things.
Skinheads, in the punk sense, are typically anti-fascist and anti-racism. While boneheads are racist, neo-Nazi white supremacists. Boneheads tend to have a cleaner look, be middle-class, the bourgeoisie, and/or well-off, and typically will have some form of neo-nazi symbol tattooed on them somewhere, from my experience with them. Skins tend to have tattoos that have been co-opted, so it is important to recognize other signs. Other signs such as, if they're so open as to be wearing white ladder laces (which, I want to clarify, doesn't always equal nazi or white supermacist. Dog whistles are dog whistles for a reason, they are meant to look like normal things), pins/patches/tattoos with neo-nazi or fascist symbols and sayings, they are open enough to admit their bigotry. From my experiences with them, they tend to be loud and proud.
